Storytime highlighting DJ Kool Herc and the Creation of Hip Hop
Break dancing meets storytelling with "When the Beat was Born: DJ Kool Herc and the Creation of Hip Hop", by Laban Carrick Hill, illustrations by Theodore Taylor, at the Sugar Hill Childrens Museum of Art & Storytelling, followed by an exploration of the art of sound with our live DJ! About Story Time: Tales on Sugar Hill Grounded in a curatorial mission to share stories through theater, music, dance and visual art, as well as oral and literary forms, Story Times: Tales on Sugar Hill presents tales, fables, histories and myths that genuinely reflect the diverse ethnic and cultural milieu of our surroundings. Held every second Saturday of each month, each presentation includes a participatory art activity facilitated by teaching artists, so children not only experience other’s stories, but also reflect on what they see and hear, and create and share their own stories.
