Participatory budgeting (PB) is a democratic process in which community members directly decide how to spend part of a public budget. in other words, the people who pay taxes (all of us) decide how tax dollars get spent. District 7 residents who are 14 years and older are eligible to vote for up to five projects. Check here for more information and voting sites: http://www.marklevine.nyc/participatory_budgeting

Please share with your network in District 7.

VOTE #10 Cherry Walk Safety Improvements
A PARKS & RECREATION PROJECT ON THE BALLOT THIS YEAR.
LOCATION: Riverside Drive West 110th Street to West 129th Street

DESCRIPTION: Address dangerous conditions for walkers and bikers along the 1.5-mile uninterrupted section of the Hudson River Greenway. Install reflective paint markings to illuminate and improve safety conditions.

COST: $150,000

VOTE FOR THIS PROJECT BETWEEN MARCH 26TH & APRIL 3RD.

The Cherry Walk is part of the Hudson River Greenway. Since it was constructed a couple of decades ago, and particularly as other sections of the Greenway to the north and south of this segment have been opened, the number of cyclists using the Cherry Walk, both commuters and recreational cyclists, has exploded.
The Cherry Walk is also heavily used by walkers and runners. It was built without lighting, which makes it dangerous after dark. Furthermore, it has suffered substantial deterioration because of its vulnerable location, unusual storms and its heavy use.
Here is what your VOTE will do for OUR Cherry Walk:
 Reconstruction of the existing bicycle and pedestrian path
 Repave the existing asphalt path,
 Install new park security lighting, and
 Reconstruct sections of the existing rip rap edge & the landscape between the Henry Hudson Parkway and Hudson River.
