HDFC Shareholders Homeowners Rally at City Hall
“We thank everyone, all HDFC shareholders and homeowners, for attending in a strong show of solidarity, for making it plainly clear to those who would believe otherwise, that HDFCs homeowners ARE strong, ARE vibrant and ARE an important part of New York City’s housing landscape.
That for more than 30 years, by dint of our own sweat equity, HDFC shareholders have improved our homes, our community and our City. And during these past 30 years, HDFC shareholders have kept our bargain with the City: we have paid our taxes, we have paid our water bills and we have maintained and continue to maintain our homes affordable for both originators and for the next generation of shareholder-homeowners.
On the steps of City Hall, along with many Council Members, lead by Mark D. Levine, we stood in solidarity to show and to demonstrate to those who would believe otherwise, that HDFC shareholders will fight and fight hard to retain the appreciation of our sweat equity, which keeps our homes and buildings well maintained and decent places to live.
We will fight and fight hard to keep our autonomy, which also keeps our homes affordable, and we will continue to fight to keep our property rights that also sustains that affordability.
HDFC who are troubled and in distress and maybe even in foreclosure, should be the first to receive help from the City, in order to preserve their affordability and to not lose these affordable homes to third party profiteers.
So today, we who have fought will continue to fight, for our homes, our equity, our community, and our City.”
