FREE Family Day and Holiday Community Sing at the Sugar Hill Children's Museum of Art & Storytelling
Thanks to Deutsche Bank the Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling offered free admission this past Saturday, December 19 from 12noon to 5PM, with an array of programs. ART-MAKING IN THE STUDIO LABS - Inspired by the multi-layered work of our artist-in-residence, David Shrobe, you can join in as the Studio Labs are transformed into a life-sized collage! Be part of this special afternoon of fantastical art-making. OPEN STUDIO WITH DAVID SHROBE - Artist-in-Residence David Shrobe opened The Studio for conversations about his creative ideas and art-making process. A fourth generation member of the Harlem community, David has an M.F.A. from Hunter College and is a current Joan Mitchell Foundation Teaching Fellow. Pictured is a detail from David’s artwork, Tight Rope. MUSIC & FREEZE DANCE WITH DJ AYONISH - DJ Ayonish took over on the Living Room stage, where she spun tunes for a Music & Freeze dance party. Bust a move until the music pauses, then hold that pose! GALLERY EXHIBITION TOURS - Get the back story on our exhibitions, which feature works created with everything from pencils to plastic bags, by everyone from renowned painters of the Harlem Renaissance to contemporary multimedia artists. HOLIDAY COMMUNITY SING - The Harlem Opera Theater's annual holiday community sing fills the Living Room! Seasonal arias and joyful duets under the direction of Dr. Gregory Hopkins will be followed by favorite and familiar carols sung together by the performers and audience.
