BronxNet OPENs at Mercy College
BronxNet officially opened its doors at Mercy College’s Bronx Campus. The new state-of-the-art television studio facility ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by Mercy College President Tim Hall, Bronx Borough President Ruben Díaz Jr., BronxNet Chairman Paul T. Gentile and BronxNet Executive Director Michael Max Knobbe.
President Hall said: "We are so pleased to be officially cutting the ribbon on the new Mercy College BronxNet Studios. We have long had a wonderful relationship with BronxNet and now I can't wait to see it flourish even more. From the opportunities for our students to work and learn in a real television studios, to the opportunities for our staff and faculty to share the great things they are working on here at Mercy College - I expect great things. I will be tuning in!"
Located in the East Bronx at Mercy College at the Hutch Metro Center, the facility is complete with an express studio, media labs and other media capable spaces. Students of Mercy College will now have the opportunity to develop real-world media skills in the East Bronx as so many done over the years at BronxNet’s facilities at Lehman College. The facility will also serve as a hub where Mercy College educators can share information and ideas with TV and web-viewing audiences through BronxNet signature and Mercy College-generated programs. Knobbe said: “The new BronxNet satellite facility at Mercy College at the Hutch Metro Center is the borough’s windows on the East Bronx. Activities at the location will help develop a new pool of media leaders, encourage innovation and spur more community building through workforce development, media technology and unique programming."
